Condolences
We were saddened to learn, over a year later, of Dr. Nir's death. He and Mary Ann took good care of our cats, especially Tess and Gypsy, for a couple decades. He was, as so many have said, caring and compassionate both to our pets and even their owners. He was a good man, and we're glad to have known him. He, his family, and Mary Ann are in our prayers.

We started our long friendship with Dr. Nir when he was in Cicero. We followed him to Naperville with our 26 + year old, three toed box turtle, Maggie. Dr. Nir was so very compassionate and loving as he tended to Maggie’s needs. He loved every animal that he came in contact with. Such a wonderful man and a beautiful human being! Our hearts are sad but we will never forget his gentle ways, warm smile and kindness. Our prayers go out to his daughters and MaryAnn.

Dr. Nir and Mary Ann took care of our beagle, Sheloh, for years, until she passed. When Shelohs back troubles made being lifted too painful, Yuval would treat her on the floor, sitting down beside her, making her comfort his primary concern. I loved his stories of traveling the world and am so sorry to hear of his loss. My heart goes out to his family and Mary Ann.

My heart is broken over the passing of our beloved Dr. Nir, who was as kind, compassionate, and generous a man as I have ever had the privilege of knowing. He took care of me and my family in ways beyond measure, and he cared for our animals for over 30 years. He was incredibly intelligent, wise, insightful and multi-talented in so many ways. Not only as an accomplished and honored veterinarian, but also as an artist. He and his trusted and devoted Mary Ann are incredible treasures in my life and the lives of my wife and children. He can never be replaced. The dinners I shared with him, the sorrows I shared with him and Mary Ann, the "Ask the Vet" newspaper articles I co-wrote with him, and the wisdom he shared with me will live with me forever. I share your loss and sorrow Nicole, May, and Marina. He loved you so much. I share your loss and sorrow Mary Ann. Your were his steadfast partner in a practice that touched so many lives. May God Bless each and every one of you, and each and every one of the lives you enriched with love. I love you Dr. Nir

My heart is broken. Dr Nir was not only our vet but a dear friend. He had a special gift in communicating with animals. My dogs that had issues were calm when in his gentle hands. Heaven has received another angel. Perhaps God needed him to take care of all the sick, unloved and unwanted animals who have crossed rainbow bridge. Dr. Nir, God Bless You. Please hug my Sheba, Muffy, Molly up there. Thank you my dear dear friend. Rest in Peace. Maggie, Chanel, Mia, and Petie thank you for being their doctor.

So sorry to the Nir family for the loss of this great and gentle human. Dr Nir was our compassionate, caring Vet. So generous with his time coming to our home each Sunday to care for and provide treatment to our cat for nearly two years! He shared many unique stories and always had a smile. His presence will truly be missed. One of the most interesting and unique individuals I have ever met! Carie (and Kim)
