Obituary
William R. Lee, age 93, of Phoenix, AZ formerly of La Grange Park, IL died on August 4, 2023. Beloved husband of the late Rosemarie Josephine Lee, nee Targosz; loving father of Michael Lee, William (Linda) Lee Jr., David (Sherri) Lee, Richard (Pamela) Lee, James Lee and the late Janet (the late Thomas) Darovic; dear grandfather of Tracy (Adam) Gordon, Cindy (Jeff) Henkes, Thomas Darovic, Robert (Lindy) Darovic , Katie (Bill) Jaqua , Christopher (Melanie) Lee, Ryan (Teresa) Lee, Laura (Bryan) Clear, Samantha (Tyler) Dillon, Jessica (Dan) Bocian, Melissa (Kyle) Madeja, Thomas Lee, Jena (Kevin) Seybold and the late Michael Lee; and brother of the late Donald Lee (Mary), John Lee, Bob Lee, and Jim Lee.
William and Rosemarie married in 1949, and for 59 years they resided in La Grange Park, IL. This is where they raised their six children: Michael, Janet, William Jr, David, Ricky, and Jimmy. William worked for Jewel Food Store in Melrose Park, IL for 43 years in the produce warehouse.
William was a devoted father and enjoyed being part of the LaGrange Park Little League as a coach and mentor for his sons for over 15 years. William had a passion for playing golf and had regular tee time on Sundays for whoever wanted to join him. The Lee family was filled with love and compassion, and every Sunday would gather for dinner and watch the Chicago Bears game together. His other passion was cheering on the Chicago Bulls, and he rarely missed a game. William enjoyed working in his backyard garden and tending to his flowers and award-winning roses. He will be deeply missed by friends, family and all that knew him.
Upon retirement in 1993, they moved to a winter home in Phoenix, AZ where they enjoyed the beautiful scenery, casinos, golf, and warm weather; many family members and friends came to visit to enjoy Arizona with them.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Louise de Marillac Church at 1125 Harrison Ave., La Grange Park, IL (corner of Raymond and 30th).
Entombment Private Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
