Obituary

Richard (Rich Kory) Korzyniewski, long time Brookfield resident, passed away on April 23, 2020. Rich was a devoted husband, father of three children and grandfather of seven. He and his wife Nancy were married for forty-seven years and lived together in the Hollywood section of Brookfield. Rich took great pride in his home and his neighborhood. Rich was a committed volunteer for the Hollywood Citizens Association for over thirty years.
Rich was born and raised in Chicago's "back of the yards" neighborhood and graduated from St. Rita High School in 1965. He was a commissioned officer and served as a second lieutenant in the US Army from 1966-1969 and was stationed in Korea. After his service he worked for Western Electric in Cicero until its closing in 1983 and then at Electronic Connector of Chicago as plant manager until his passing.
Some of the things Rich enjoyed were playing cards with friends, swimming with his grandchildren in the backyard pool and chatting with neighbors on his frequent walks with his dog, Rodney. Rich truly enjoyed connecting with others and had an engaging charisma. He had a contagious smile and always tried to help bring a laugh to every interaction. His kids would describe him as a model for hard work and someone who was always there for them to lend an ear while offering unending love and support.
Mr. Korzyniewski was preceded in death by both his parents, Michael and Helen Korzyniewski and eldest brother Leonard Korzyniewski. He is survived by his brother Bernard (Susan) Korzyniewski and children, Tony (Beckie) Korzyniewski, Nick (Jessica) Korzyniewski and Diana (Daniel) Faught. He was an extremely genuine, very dependable and loyal man who will be greatly missed.
Internment will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
