Nancy Kenny Rudolph passed away following a courageous battle with aggressive metastatic breast cancer, which had spread to her lungs, liver, and brain. She was 66 years old.
Nancy was born on April 6, 1959 in Southern California and spent her formative years in Overland Park, Kansas. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in business from Colorado College in Colorado Springs in 1981. A licensed Certified Public Accountant in the state of Colorado, she went on to receive her Master of Business Administration from the University of Colorado at Boulder in May 1985. Nancy resided in Vail, Colorado, for several years before beginning a distinguished 32-year career with the Internal Revenue Service, where she specialized in auditing tax returns. She retired from federal service on July 31, 2019. Following retirement, Nancy and her husband William relocated to Buckeye, Arizona, while maintaining strong ties to Colorado as seasonal residents.
Her beloved husband, age 67, currently resides in memory care due to early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. Nancy was immensely proud of her three children and their accomplishments. Her son, Nathan Rudolph, resides in Aurora, Colorado, with his wife Sarah Born, who holds a Ph.D. in microbiology and serves as a clinical research manager. Nathan is known for his work on the DNVR Avalanche YouTube channel, where he covers the Colorado Avalanche hockey team. Her daughter, Skye Rudolph, is a transgender woman currently pursuing a Ph.D. in physics while residing in Seattle, Washington. She previously worked as a software developer for Amazon and Meta and enjoys life with her two partners. Nancy’s youngest daughter, Shannon Carrigan, is in her third year of medical residency with aspirations of becoming an oncologist. Her husband, Michael Carrigan, recently completed a Ph.D. in particle physics at The Ohio State University.
A dedicated mother and community member, Nancy served as a Girl Scout leader for over six years and was an active volunteer in schools and youth sports. In retirement, she developed a passion for pickleball, participated in Zumba and fitness classes, and was an avid reader engaged in multiple book clubs. She also enjoyed speaking Spanish and using it in her daily life. Nancy volunteered for over a decade with AARP Tax-Aide, preparing free tax returns and managing sites in Arizona, including the successful establishment of two new locations.
An enthusiastic traveler, Nancy visited all 50 U.S. states, reaching her final one in November 2024, and explored 27 countries. Among her travels, Israel held special meaning for her due to its rich historical and cultural significance. Her journey there also included a visit to Bethlehem, located in the Palestinian Territories.
Nancy was predeceased by her parents, her in-laws, and two older brothers. She is survived by her husband Bill, her siblings Kathleen (Kevin McMurtrey) Kenny, Tim (Martina) Kenny, Sharon (Drew) Segadelli, Jayne (Mike) Mikulski, the late Raymond (Tiffiany) Kenny, and the late Kevin (Carolyn) Kenny, her three children as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, and in-laws.
Nancy’s life was one of quiet strength, generosity, and unwavering dedication to her family and community. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
