Murney M. Lazier

I think your father would have remembered me.sending to all of you my prayers and sympathy. At my age of 86 my memories of those times have been with me this week while I am watching I knew your grandmother Delores when she cared lost some of my email,but you grandmother Delores was a caretaker. For my grandmother Helga Warren and my Uncle Alvin Warren at the Warren family farm near Baker, I remember when her daughter Olga married your fi was surprised when I recognized your names,send ing prayers and love to you all and your blessed families.father Murney. I Olga and her boys often visited the farm when we were there visiting. I even visited your home back in those days. Your father was a well known football coach and I was so impressed.

I played football for Mr. Lazier during the 1964 and 1965 fall seasons. With the exception of my parents, no one had a greater or more positive effect upon me as Mr. Lazier. He was a players' coach, working out with all of us in that stifling weight room all summer, bench pressing with the strongest guys on the team. He was tough but fair with all of us and always an inspiration to living a good life. My deepest condolences to Shawn, Ryan and all of Mr. Lazier's many grandchildren and great grandchildren

We send our condolences to the Lazier Family during your time of grief at the loss of Murney. I was so fortunate for Murney's foresight and athletic health concern to hire me as LTHS's first certified athletic trainer back in 1976. He was my supervisor but he also taught me valuable life lessons that I live by today. I respected his willingness to let me develop my own program from scratch, and he continued to support me and my student trainer staff throughout our years together. My respect for his knowledge and wisdom continued even after his LT years. Thank you Murney for believing in me and the importance of quality athletic health care. May God bless him always.

I offer my condolences to all of Murney’s family. Murney was certainly a major influence in my life. While attending Northwestern University I student taught under Murney when he was a teacher and coach at Evanston High School. When Murney went to Lyons Township High School as the athletic director he was influential in urging me to return to my alma mater as a teacher and coach. I have many memories of our conversations and I always tried to learn from his experience. He influenced me greatly as a coach and person. Thanks, Murney! Jim Loveo

Coach Lazier was a mentor to me in football, wrestling, and in life.As I have said many times, he changed the culture of wrestling officiating in the State of Illinois, an unmatched record as a football coach, and helped many to goals which they seemed too high. A master teacher, I was under his tutelage in 1956 as a student teacher as he coached the only Evanston wrestling team to win the Suburban League championship. Regretfully, he was not allowed to continue coaching wrestling when he accepted the head football coaching position. He put more time into officiating wrestling and was one of the best in the country! Many have tried to follow in his footsteps, but none of us could. He was truly, one of a kind. Personally, I have lost a good friend.

Both Ron and I were sorry to learn of Murney's passing. He was my.boss, friend and mentor for some18 plus years. He will always be remembered for his words of wisdom as well as his quick wit. Our prayers goyer to the Lazier family at this time. May he rest in peace.

Our condolences to the Lazier Family. Murney was more than my boss. He was my mentor and my friend who represented educational based athletics in every decision he made for the sports programs and student athletes at Lyons Tosnship High School. His high expectations and demand for excellence from his coaching staff was his trademark for the success of the Athletic programs during his tenure. His passing leaves a void to the many of the coaches he “coached”. Rest In Peace, Murney. Your influences and lessons taught continue on a daily basis with the next generation of coaches.

A special respect for Murney Lazier, my wrestling coach for three years, 1954-56, and as Pool Director at Glenview Club he hired Duncan Lanum and me to be his two live guards for the three summers of 1954-56. He was a mentor and long-term friend, and I’ll miss him.

My deepest sympathies to the entire Lazier family. We grew up in the same neighborhood and I have the fondest memories of Coach Lazier and my classmate his son , the late Mike, who I enjoyed many games of back yard football! Rest in peace Coach; you were one of the great ones!

My sincerest condolences on the passing of Murney. He was my cooperating teacher at Evanston when I did my student teaching. He offered me a job there, but recommended I go to Leyden. A move I respected him for. He was a mentor and friend over time and will be deeply missed. Rest easy my friend.

Other than my father, Mel, Coach Lazier had the biggest effect on my life. If you suffered through his gauntlet of tough practices, hard work and NEVER GAVE UP, you always had a place on his teams. God Bless you, Murney Lazier! RIP
