Margaret Greene 1931 - 2025
Margaret, affectionately known as Marge, was a long-time resident of Chicago’s West Side and Riverside. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Esther; her husband of 63 years, James; her sister-in-law, Barbara; and her devoted sons-in-law, Jerry and John. She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen and Mary (Ken); her grandchild, Christopher (Casey); and her great-grandchildren, Tyler and Mazie. Marge is fondly remembered by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and especially her godchildren: Edward, Cathy, Annie-B, and Jessica.
Retired from 35-year career in the automotive industry, Marge worked at one of the early diversity focused dealerships that Ford Motor Company opened on the west side of Chicago. She also played a pivotal role in pioneering a new national division for Ford Dealer Development, which managed dealership liquidations.
Marge was deeply committed to volunteering for various veterans' non-profit organizations. In recognition of her many years of dedicated service, she was honored with the CVA (Combined Veterans of Illinois) Person of the Year Award. As an active member of AMVETS, Marge held several leadership roles, including Past President of Ted Knusman Auxiliary #13, Past President of the Auxiliary Department of Illinois, and National Auxiliary Treasurer. She also faithfully volunteered at Hines VA Hospital for over 60 years. Recently, Marge retired as the VAVS (Veterans Administration Voluntary Service) representative for AMVETS Auxiliary at Hines VA Hospital, where she was twice awarded the VAVS Representative of the Year award. Additionally, Marge received the Cook County VAC Distinguished Service Award. Truly, hers was a life well lived!
Her family is eternally grateful to the army of gentle caregivers who helped Marge actively enjoy her final year, with special thanks to her 'Team Captain' and new friend, Katrina.
