Margaret Blauw

Margaret Blauw, nee Chalupa, age 81 of LaGrange Park. Beloved wife of the late John Blauw; loving mother of James (Krista Grimm) Blauw and Douglas (Jeanne ) Blauw; dear grandmother of Amelia Grimm Blauw, Ethan Grimm Blauw; Gabriella Blauw, Henry Blauw, Chloe Blauw and Harrison Blauw; aunt of Laurie Blauw and the late Liane Blauw.

Margaret will be remembered by her family and friends for being a very decisive, strong, stoic woman who was always great under pressure. She was an avid reader who started reading at the age of 3, leading to her lifelong love of books. As a charismatic youngster she became a child model till the age of 7. She was grateful for all the memories from family vacations, especially those to Hawaii. She was dedicated to her family and a wonderful caregiver to her beloved husband John, who passed too young. A member of the LaGrange Park Library Book Club for over 20 years, Margaret always took the opportunity to lead the discussion when the librarian was unable. While she enjoyed her short stay at Arboretum Villas, she often spoke fondly of her “tiny house” on Waiola. Second to her love of family; Margaret had a great appreciation for all animals and wildlife, exemplified by her extensive collection of ceramic cats.

A Memorial Visitation will be held Friday, June 6, 2025 from 9:00 A.M. to time of Service 11:00 A.M. at Hitzeman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 9445 31st Street, Brookfield, IL 60513.

Inurnment at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Stickney.
