Obituary
James Arthur Bruce, age 86, of Chicago. Air Force Veteran. Son of Arthur L. Bruce and Evelyn K. Bruce, nee Kirsch. Peacefully passed away at home surrounded with family and friends.
Jim graduated from St. Philomena Grade School, St. Philips High School, Worsham College of Mortuary Science and Roosevelt University. He proudly served our nation in the Air Force, went on to teach school for ten years, after which he entered the funeral service, retiring after twenty-five years.
Jim married his loving and devoted wife Cecilia Georgia, nee Schoner in 1964. They have two wonderful beloved sons James Andrew (Karen Sikora) and Dr. Christopher Arthur (Colleen Jones). A loving grandfather to Elizabeth Anne Bruce and Milo Albaugh. His brothers Lawrence (Renata), and the late Kenneth (Murial) were loved and an important part of his life. Jim was a loving uncle to Suzanne Cecelia (Donald Smith) Wagner and their children: Gabriella C., Angelina C., Daniella C., and Donald Jr.
Jim honored his Scottish and German heritage by proudly participating in many of their cultural affairs. He loved fly-fishing, making his own flies, vacationing with Ceil and the boys in Colorado. There were so many wonderful traveling vacations experiences, so many great memories, to last a lifetime.
A special prayer of gratitude to Ricky (Gloria) – Jim’s caregiver and friend. A positive voice bringing countless blessings, caring, and love.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024 at St. Monica Church, 5136 N. Nottingham Avenue, Chicago, IL 60656, from 10 A.M. to Time of Mass 11 A.M.
