Gerda Semmler

Gerda I. Semmler (nee Beissert) born 7/29/1926 in Kunzendorf, Germany, and passed away at Milestone Assisted Living in Tomahawk, Wisconsin on 3/31/2025. Beloved wife of the late Reinhold Semmler; loving mother of Winfried (Joanne) Semmler and the late Heidi (the late Fred Strufe); dear grandmother of Jennifer (Phil Smejkal) Zarembski, Derek (Heather) Semmler, Erin (Dan) Kilmer and Molly (Brian) Borrowman; great grandmother of Riley (Taylor) Semmler, Mason Semmler, Alex ( Zachary) Hughart, Samantha Zarembski and Benjamin Zarembski, Emma Kilmer, John Kilmer, Ryan Kilmer, Benjamin Borrowman and Isaac Borrowman; great great grandmother of Oliver Hughart, Daxton Hughart and Milo Hughart; sister of Horst Beissert and the late Rudy, Heinz, Walter, Klaus, Gisela (Michael) Wahler, Helmut Beissert and Erica Beissert.

Gerda and Reinhold were married in Germany 8/23/1947. They emigrated to Sioux Lookout, Ontario, Canada in 1952. Shortly after they moved to Forest Park, Illinois and ultimately bought a home in Lyons, Illinois where she lived until moving to an Assisted Living facility in Burr Ridge, Illinois. Gerda and her husband were active members of St. John United Church of Christ in Lyons, IL.  In 2022 she moved to Milestone Assisted living in Tomahawk, Wisconsin where she lived until her death.

Visitation Friday, April 11, 2025 from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and Saturday, April 12, 2025 from 10:30 A.M. to time of Service at 11:00 A.M. at Hitzeman Funeral Home, Ltd., 9445 31st Street, Brookfield, Il 60513.

Interment Forest Home Cemetery, Forest Park.
