Condolences

Dear Egner Family, I'm deeply sorry to hear about Chuck's passing. I just learned of it today. Chuck was a kind, thoughtful, intelligent person, and I greatly enjoyed chatting with him every time I saw him at Ace. He was always quick to say hello to me and ask how our pups were doing. And I could tell that Chuck was someone who actually cared. Our town is poorer for his passing.

Charlie was a genuinely good man. That’s something that’s kind of rare. He was one of those people that loved to help other people and loved to pass knowledge on. He always remembered your name, even if it had been 20 years since you had worked together and made sure to ask about your family. Chris’ comment is true for a large amount of teenagers that worked at Ace as their first or second job. He was a helper and just someone you knew you could go to for advice, whether it was hardware related or just about life. My condolences to his family, but Chris is right, he sure left an amazing legacy behind.

So sorry for your loss of such a great man. I remember the days of hockey at memorial park both as a player and a referee and Chuck was always there with my Dad coaching or supervising. I mostly remember the days at Ace Hardware. I spent my teenage days working there with Charlie. He was such and easy going and laid back person who was always there to help. He taught me things about plumbing, electrical, hardware, and everything else in the store that prepared me to be a homeowner. I always looked forward to my shifts when he was in charge. Rest easy old friend, you certainly left a legacy in the la grange park community.
