Anna Gutmann

Anna Pracher Gutmann, nee Heinz, age 91, of Rogers Park, Mulberry, FL and La Grange Park passed away peacefully on October 12th, 2024 surrounded by family. Anna is preceded in death by her first husband, Ernest, her late beloved husband, Ralph and her brother, mother and father. She was the wonderful mother of Trudy Fitzek, Ernest (Carol) Pracher, Jr., Gunter (Jessica) Pracher and Christina (Randy) Josefik; grandmother (affectionately known as Omi) of Juliet, Joe, Jennifer, Jamie, Daniel, Nicole and Michael; great grandmother of Elizabeth, Ashley, Alyssa, Andrew, Autumn, Maximus, Jonathan, Rylie, Gavin, Ryan, CJ, Celsie, Noah, Ava, Cassie, Andrew and the youngest additions to her large family, Grace and Rory along with another one on the way and her favorite dog, Nala.

Anna was born in Yugoslavia and fled with her family during World War 2 to Austria when she was just a young child. In 1956 Anna, her husband and 3 very young children settled in Chicago where she enjoyed a 35 year career at Lutz Bakery of Chicago. Her rich cultural heritage was a constant source of inspiration, fueling her enthusiasm for cooking, singing, dancing and music. True to her roots, she traveled as a member of the Chicago Austrian choir. Anna had a “passion for fashion”, especially hats, and was a proud member of the Red Hat Society. She also had the “gift of gardening” and she grew the most beautiful flowers everywhere she lived.

The legacy of her captivating beauty, infectious smile, unwavering resilience and clever wit will forever live on through her large family and many friends.  Auf Wiedersehen*, Omi, you will be greatly missed. *Until we see each other again.

The family is holding a Memorial Visitation, Saturday November 16, 2024 2:00 P.M. to time of Service 6:00 P.M. at Hitzeman Funeral Home & Cremation Services 9445 31st Street, Brookfield, IL 60513.
