I would like to offer my belated condolences to the entire Hayes family. Kim and the family were our former neighbors and she was a wonderful friend to both myself and my sister Judy. She will be deeply missed.

My heart hurts for those that never got a chance to spend time with my dear friend Kim. I have the best memories with you as we both watched our boys grow into young men. Or should I say I watched and tried to mimic the way you lived and loved Jack and Erick to also give that same love to my 3 boys. Far more than a friend and teacher you were more family than my own family. I thank you for so many lessons and long talks in those memories I’ll smile and know your spirit is still with us.

I was privileged to meet Kim in Key West and work with her for two years. In that short time, we became friends. What a beautiful person---inside and out!! I knew her as a proud mother and grandmother, an honest friend, and a dedicated teacher. Her loving spirit clearly impacted thousands of students and dozens of colleagues in an amazing 35 year career. She will live on in my heart. Love, prayers, and peace to her family.

The world is a much better place because of Kim. Her empathy, creativity, talent, and love were all freely shared with others. As a fellow teacher and friend for 36 years, I, like all that came in contact with Kim, benefitted from knowing her. Boys know that she always loved you with all her heart and spoke highly of you. God grant you peace and know she is still watching over you.

Ms. Hayes was my yearbook advisor junior year of high school. Rouser was one of the best courses I ever took at RB, and Ms. Hayes made it so special with her kindness and her belief that her students had great potential. I'm so sorry for your loss Jack and Erick.

I have never seen a teacher that genuinely cared about her students as much as Mrs. Hayes did. She made her classroom feel like a second home and I will never be able to thank her enough for everything she did. Mrs. Hayes was a kind, beautiful, and amazing person and she will be missed dearly. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Hayes family, i’m so sorry for your loss.

Hard to find the right words, but Kim was like a second mother to me. She taught and raised so many, both inside and out of the classroom. She raised strong kids, with good hearts. She made everything fun, and cared so deeply about every person. From summers with water fights, the candy shop, and just sitting on the stoop, to nights running endlessly around our houses, chasing lightning bugs, and watching sunsets, there are so many pure memories. We'll always miss you too much Kim, but witness your impact every where we turn.

Our heart and prayers go out to the entire family upon hearing about Kim's illness and then her passing. We have been blessed to be part of Kim's extended family. When we lose a loved one here on earth, we gain an angel in heaven that watches over us. We pray that you all will find peace and comfort as you move through this difficult time. Our most sincere condolences to you all. Love, Mark & Lori

“Although only breath, words which I command are immortal”~ Sappho It was during my very first week teaching alongside Ms. Kimberly Hayes that she shared these words with our students. In the same week, she shared with us her love of stained glass- she told us that stained glass only gained its beauty after it had been broken. Kimberly displayed an image of “The Thinker” on her wall and consistently encouraged her students to be creative, expressive, and insightful and they rose to the occasion- every one of them… every time! She made our brains hurt and our hearts melt. Kimberly was a fierce mother, a master teacher, an eloquent speaker, a creative soul, a poetic writer, and a true friend. Her lessons, her words, her giggle, her essence…. immortal.

Ms. Hayes was the best English teacher I had at RB. She was fun, sweet, and danced to the beat of her own drum. She made reading classics fun. My deepest condolences to her family as they grieve this tragedy.

Kind, helpful, and spiritual are the words that come to mind when I think of Kimberly. As a teacher, she inspired many with her gentle ways. As a colleague, she empathized with and supported her fellow teachers. As a mother and grandmother, she loved her family above all else. Please accept my deepest sympathy on your loss.

Being a freshman in high school is always a scary thing, but Ms Hayes was there for you when you needed support. I ended up spending the next three years of high school visiting her nearly everyday. She’d sneak Kit Kats and and I’d help with grading or filing. She was one of the major influences in my life as I completed my Music Education degree and graduated college. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for Ms Hayes. My deepest sympathies to Jack, and his brother, and the whole Hayes family. Thank you for the wonderful memories Ms Hayes. - Miss Miranda.

Kim was one of the nicest teachers that I met during my almost 4 decades at RBHS. She left us way too soon and will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her. She was genuine and kind to students and staff. She took the time to listen. Her death leaves a void that will never be filled. My heart goes out to her family. Sincerely, Jan Goldberg

The best teacher I have EVER had... sorry to all my other teachers but nothing was like ms Hayes the sweetest most kind and loving teacher to ever exist in the education system. I had Ms Hayes last year for my 1st period. All of my classmates and I loved seeing all of her adorable pictures of Harleigh. I am so sad and I can't imagine the pain her family is going through. Rest in peace you are loved and will be greatly missed.

I knew Kim only a few short years but she touched our whole family. She took my son under her wing in his freshman year and would not let him give up. She encouraged and cheered my daughter through theatre and gave her someone to admire. She became a friend to me along the way and one that I will never forget. You will be missed friend.
