Janice C. Lasch, 76, longtime resident of Oak Park, at rest September 23, 2023. She was born in Chicago to Sanford and Dorothy Cruse. Beloved wife of Charles; loving mother of Christopher (Molly) Lasch and Jessica Lasch; dearest grandmother of Caroline and Thomas Lasch; dear sister of Susan (Bill) Richards, Shirley (John) Handy, the late Gerald (Mary) Cruse, the late Judy Zablocki, and the late David Cruse; sister-in-law of Barbara (the late Al) Czuprynski, Pari (Tom Fergus) Lasch, Terry (Jennifer) Lasch and Kevin (Victoria) Lasch; loving aunt to many nieces and nephews; and friend to many.
For many years, Janice worked as an accountant and bookkeeper for a variety of organizations including a local non-profit nursery school. In her free time, in addition to visiting with her family and many friends, she loved to sew and crochet, a hobby she learned at an early age and continued throughout her life. She always had a project in process for her grandchildren which she loved sharing with them. An avid reader, Janice also had a gift for writing. She had a knack for turning simple subjects into engaging, often humorous stories. A recent work of hers, a spy thriller, features her grandchildren and stars their family dog. It was published in installments, to the ongoing delight of Caroline, Thomas, and their parents. She will be missed by all.
